I really just use a mouse when I can.Asus offers laptops in all the price segments. The swipe gestures don't seem to work too well either. The built in mouse pad can be a bit shoddy and not respond as it should (moving erratically). And again, some programs seem to take a little longer to load from startup (I'll put it down to HD).

Makes it easy to keep everything connected.Ī couple of negatives are that occasionally the laptop freezes for a second or two when accessing the HD (maybe because it's getting to capacity or just a bloated windows install).

You'd think by now they'd have that built in? I just connect a USB3.0 HUB and run everything off that (most things are still USB 2.0 except drives). Came with 1 USB 2.0 port than I use for a 2.4GHz mouse receiver.

Would have been good to have to have a few extra USB3.0 ports. The unit is light - half the thickness and weight of my Toshiba. Even when I'm crunching and converting video, it can do it relatively fast and mostly doesn't even max out the quad cores when capturing. I needed something that could process video and music - fast.

The biggest disappointment was windows 8 being installed. I didn't think I could fill up that drive but I just about have. Read more Gigabit LAN, single band wifi b/g/n - at the time dual 2.4/5Ghz A band was coming in. Boasting AMD A10 processor, Radeon HD8670M 2GB graphics, couple of USB3.0 ports, 16GB RAM and 1TB drive, DVD burner, HDMI out. First off, this guy was much faster than my dual core 1.6Ghz laptop. So I needed to bite the bullet and upgrade.įor the price at the time $1300 it was sitting mid-range among other competitors. Unfortunately in this day and age it was not up to par with video streaming, video capture, fast file transfer. I bought this unit to replace a tiring Toshiba A200 that I bought years back. This is just absolutely ridiculous and I will most definitely be steering clear of any ASUS products from now on. We bought these as a long term investment, hoping not to have to replace them for at least the next 4 years. I thought the noise from the CD/DVD player was normal, but can now see from other reviews that other people are also having problems with this as well.

We have been having non stop problems with the power cables and I can see that this is a common factor from other reviews. Well, I am now going to have to contact him about this - 18 months later, my husband's motherboard and hard drive have also completely 'fried'. Read more les rep at Harvey Norman, the manager contacted me and said that if I ever had any other problems with these laptops, to let him know, even if it was after the warranty period, and he would deal with it personally. But with mine - the whole motherboard and hard drive were completely fried! Thankfully they were fixed under warranty and after a bad case of customer service from the sa.

My husband's keyboard - some keys weren't working so they updated the OS and Drivers and that seemed to fix his problem. At the 11 month point, we took them both back to Harvey Norman for warranty work (just within the 12 month warranty period). My husband and I purchased two of these computers and thought they were great for the first 10 months, then we both had problems.
